When there was a lot of work, they'd pay an extra 8 to 20 cents a minute. They had bonus periods frequently as well. So if you had a 10:04 job, it would pay for 11 full minutes. They had timestamp pay, too, (10 cents a minute more for adding timestamps) AND they rounded up to the next minute. So, a job starting out at 50 cents by the end of the day would climb to $1/minute. They used to increase the pay by 2 to 3 cents every few hours and also by how many unclaims it had. If you can believe it, there used to be plenty of jobs paying $1/minute. I will start doing the same thing now whenever I unclaim something-let them know it's not worth it for the lousy pay. Probably won't have any effect, and certainly doesn't help me waste less time, but it makes me feel better. While they clearly don't give a shit about the workers, they'd be stupid not to listen to the customers.įor now, I've taken to - rather than simply previewing the audio and ignoring crap jobs for crap pay - claiming the low-paying jobs and leaving a comment in the "Reason for unclaim" section about the pay being too low. When the pay is so low that most won't be going back to proof-read, I can't believe they're not getting a significant number of complaints from customers. A couple of the jobs I've picked up have already been partially transcribed (one was actually fully transcribed but the previous claimant hadn't submitted before the deadline) and the quality has been abysmal, with spelling and grammar errors, wild guesses at names of people and places, and sometimes entire sentences that sound nothing like what the speaker is saying. Well the quality of the transcriptions being pumped out can't be anywhere close to consistent, and frankly I'm surprised the customers keep coming back. Is there a significant improvement in the quality of available jobs once you reach Revver+, or is it just the carrot they dangle in front of lower-tier Revvers to keep them working for a pittance? I understand those at Revver+ get first pick of the jobs, but given the consistently awful jobs available to me, I'm wondering if it's actually worth bothering to grind it out. Take into account the time spent sifting through crap jobs to find one worth doing, and it's probably more like 1/4 of minimum wage. So far, my pay works out to less than 1/3 of minimum wage. ![]() I'm not a slow typist by any means, but so far every job I've come across has been a miserable experience, with either absurdly bad audio quality or way too many speakers talking over each other, or often both of these things at the same time. So far I've transcribed 330 mins of audio and feel like I'm just wasting my time. So I've been dabbling on Rev for a couple of months now.
